How can an infinite God dwell in a finite Mishkan? This distinction has halachic ramifications: hearing the Shem HaMeforash requires kri'ah (tearing one's garment), hastacha (bowing), and answering "Baruch Shem Kevod Malchuso L'Olam Va'ed." These responses don't apply to other names because they describe only God's functions, not His essence.
